Option sellers have a trade-off.

While they can earn a consistent income, there will inevitably be times when the underlying price does not cooperate, putting the short option seller in some distress.

These times of distress require some consideration such as underlying asset price, volatility, support and resistance levels, strike prices, and time to expiry, among other things.

There are many nuances with the standard practice of “rolling” positions. These nuances can have a big impact on your bottom line and speed of recovery.

The skillful management of distressed positions can also alleviate much of the anxiety that can come along with it.
