Deribit Secures ISO 27001 Security Certification

Deribit also announced the appointment of Anthony Sweeney to Chief Information Security Officer.

Deribit, the world’s leading crypto derivatives exchange, today announced that it has achieved the ISO 27001 security certification. ISO 27001 is a globally recognized information security standard that dictates how companies should manage their information security. In addition, Deribit also announced that it has appointed Anthony Sweeney as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

For the ISO 27001, Deribit’s security standards were audited by an external body (BSI), who assessed the Information Security Management Systems and how it contributes to the security of Deribit’s client assets. ISO 27001 is held by only a handful of firms within the digital asset industry, further establishing Deribit as a leading digital asset derivatives exchange and emphasizing its commitment to security and transparency.

In his new role as CISO, Sweeney will lead Deribit Dubai’s security team, implement ISO 27001 and manage Deribit’s Privacy and Data Protection compliance across the platform. He has over twenty years of IT and cybersecurity experience, with expertise in building out security teams with technology, people, and processes to improve the security and compliance of organizations. Sweeney previously managed information security as Chief Information Security Officer at Monument Re Group, Unifonic and through consulting for De-Risk Cybersecurity Consultancy.
